An Education for the Future
A Silicon Valley School That Doesn’t Compute
Teaching Early Literacy in Waldorf Education
What is the Waldorf School Method?
I just want to extend a huge thank you for all the school has done this year for the children. You have gone above and beyond to try and make life as normal as possible for the children, and to continue their learning journey through this very tricky time. It has obviously been a very big challenge for all involved, but we appreciate everything you have done over the past 6 months, and the warmth and care of all the staff at the school has been felt by all us parents!
Sadly Ella won’t be back to say a proper good bye to everyone now, but she has loved her time at Garden House and we only wish she could have had a bit more time at your very special school!
All the best,
(this was during COVID-19 in 2020))
To be a part of Garden House is really an unforgettable experience. My husband and I are very impressed to see the developments Jasmine makes at Garden House, especially in her English, creativity, confidence and concentration. Thank you much again. We wish you all the best.
We are very much grateful for the love and patience you and all others in Garden House have continuously given to Ariel. Nurtured by this lovely community, she has become a happy and contended kids. Thank you soooooo much!!
I think Waldorf is great and that environment is perfect for him as it is not too overwhelming. I can’t thank everyone enough for how they have been with him, he has really improved.
As mentioned, all our dealings with Garden House have been a pleasure.
We are incredibly impressed with the loving and caring environment that is Garden House, and congratulate you on building such a solid foundation that will have years of enjoyment by many children to come – the decision to leave has certainly not been an easy one for us. We thank you most sincerely for all the special attention and care that you have shown to Georgia over the three years that she has been with you, and given that she wasn’t even 1 when she started we do so appreciate the efforts by all her teachers who have helped her grow and develop so confidently under your guidance. We shall never forget the tremendous start all of you at Garden House have given her.
Our fondest regards and sincere thanks.

The short visit to another school yesterday just let us know how unique Garden House is.
The warmth and love in your school is indeed unparalleled. We are really happy with our decision to keep our daughter at Garden House.
I just wanted to let you know that Adrian went for an interview for P1 last week (we’re sorry he has to leave). We received detailed feedback from the Deputy Head who interviewed him, describing him as ‘enthusing confidence’ and ‘happy and relaxed’ and that he, ’could answer with interest and will be an enthusiastic member of the P1 class’.
Anna and I just wanted to say thank you for everything that Garden House, all the teachers, and non teaching staff have done for him. He was most reluctant to join in when he first arrived but now he is happy and sociable. We are most appreciative of the Waldorf Steiner approach, along with care and commitment of everyone at Garden House and we cannot praise you too highly. You’re doing a marvelous job.
Firstly, the Christmas fair was absolutely amazing as usual. We had a wonderful time and I must tell you what happened when we came home. We put up the Christmas tree and along with this all the little nativity scene figures. Both children raced downstairs to the play room and gathered pieces of material and instruments, went outside and gathered rocks and seeds and then proceeded to make up their own stories but in true Steiner style. They gently placed material over the scene before tapping on the xylophone ( -not so softly- 😊) and then went through their own stories. They sat there together without adult intervention for three hours…….amazing…..totally motivated by the stories and puppet shows they had seen at the fair.
Thank you so much!
We will miss all of you a lot too, and I can’t thank you personally enough again for bringing this school to Sai Kung – having our children experience it was definitely one of the most wonderful things about our stay in HK! So THANKYOU again!
We will certainly keep in touch!
Daniel was one of the very first students at Garden House pre-school – he started when he was 1! He is now 10 and he can still remember baking the bread.
Garden House provided him with a wonderful start for independence, sociability and inquisitiveness. From his first to his last day, he was very happy and never once cried at drop-off time.
Garden House provided a safe and nurturing environment for Daniel with lovely ways to celebrate the children such as dressing up as a Prince and being the star of the class story to celebrate your birthday.
We felt welcomed as a family into the school and we are very pleased to have been part of Garden House.
The boy is thriving, he's in 4th grade now, again in a pioneering class in a new school in Berlin. He is self-confident and independent, open minded and inquisitive. The foundations for his development were laid in Garden House, and now it's him who's starting to influence and shape the course his own school is taking.
It has most certainly been preparing him well for life!

No doubt that in Garden House my daughter Elaine had lots of fun and grew strongly both mentally and physically. What’s more, both my daughter and I have made many close friends throughout these years. Although we have left Garden House already, some of us are continuing our good friendships, some keep close connections by making playdates, others would be always kept in mind like old friends.
My husband and I really appreciate Garden House for those wonderful memories. We wish Garden House will welcome her 20th, 30th, 50th and even more anniversaries in the future with more and more lovely stories!
